LAF, it wouldn't be an echo chamber. As if people would keep their beaks out.

But surely to make a place more enticing would imply that you wish more people to come there?

Because it's nowhere near enticing enough at the moment.

Good idea to have a political thread. Bad idea to have a tight and a left. I don’t want an echo chamber, thanks. I want to hear a cross section of views, whether I agree or not.

Why should I want to make the UK a more enticing place?

A site that you have intimate knowledge of?
Can't see, from the name, what use it would be to a single parent. Perhaps you'd care to enlighten us?
Or maybe you could suggest ways to make the UK a more enticing place in which for me to spend my retirement.

The UK I loved and which gave me my chance in life started to vanish at about the same time as nationalised industries were privatised and people could buy their council houses without the state replacing them.
And we all know who did that, don't we, children.
There are no outstanding debts to be settled - apart from MY pension, for which I've already fully met my obligations.
The UK is now nothing but a country-sized version of Trigger's broom.

...and on which thread would somebody who is "running away" from the UK in order to live out their retirement in peace - or at least simply live out their retirement?
And where should all those who stayed in the UK, but let it get into such a fucked-up state while their fellow citizens were working abroad bringing wealth into the UK, post?

Well there’s going to be a lot of banned people as the left just can’t help arguing with anyone who is not them.
It should be if anything the left on one thread, the centre right on the other. And if you contribute to the centre right thread you’ll be labelled a racist.

I know it sounds a crazy idea, but you could ban political threads completely like most other forum sites do?

If you're a centrist, you have a foot in both camps, as you're fence-sitting indecisive time wasters.
A centre rightist.

Strangely, many of those folk don't feel the same need to wade into the middle of whatever pointless verbal scrap is going on.
Either that or this may not be the forum for those with moderate views.
